1. escape [is5keip] vt.或vi. 逃走，漏出，被……忘记。它是常用的词，其特点是强调急迫性。 run away 也是“逃跑”的意思，但多用于口语。
(1) No offender could escape punishment by law.没有犯罪者能逃脱法律的惩罚。
(2) The forging minister tried hard to escape the newsmen.外交部长竭力想避开新闻记者。
(3) The phone number escapes me for the moment.这个电话号码我一时记不起来了。
(4) He played dead to escape capture by the enemy.他装死以避免被敌人浮获。
(5) The children ran away from home for no obvious reason.
孩子们不知何故从家里跑掉了。
escape form…  从……逃跑
escape doing sth. 逃避做某事（多表被动）
eg: The villagers were able to escape from the fire.村民们成功地从大火中逃生。
He was lucky to escape being punished.他幸运地逃过惩罚。
2. belong to 作“属于”讲，主语一般是物。例如：
    That car belongs to my uncle.     那辆车是我叔叔的。
    Who does this bag belong to?   那个提包是谁的？
    This book isn’t yours. It belongs to the library.这本书不是你的，它属于图书馆。
3. have a test on …有……的考试
eg: We had a test on English last week.上周我们考了一次英语。
4. be anxious for/about  担心某事/某人
eg: We are anxious for/ about his safety.我们为他的安全而忧虑。
5. because of因为
because 用于引导原因状语从句。
because of后面接表示原因的短语。
eg: We didn’t go shopping because it rained heavily.因为下大雨我们没去购物。
We didn’t go shopping because of the heavy rain.因为大雨，我们没去购物。
6. used to do过去常常做
eg: We used to play on the playground. But now we can’t.
我们过去常在操场上玩，但现在不能了。
7. anything strange 任何奇怪的事
不定代词的修饰词放在该词的后面。
eg: I’ll tell you something interesting in our class.我要告诉你一些我们班上有趣的事。
 
8. I think I dropped it during the concert so it might still be in the symphony hall. 
  （1）drop本句中是动词，意思是“落下，掉落”。例如： 
    She dropped the vase on the floor.   她失手把花瓶掉在了地板上。
    The monkeys dropped the basket and ran away as soon as they saw the children. 
    猴子们一看见孩子们就扔下篮子逃跑了。
    It was so quiet that you might have heard a pin drop. 
    安静得连针掉在地上都可能听得到。
 （2）during是介词，意为“在……期间”，其后跟时间段。
    辨析：during, for
    介词during和介词for之后都跟时间段，如：an hour, two weeks, three years, holidays 等。但介词for是指持续时间的长短，回答how long（多长时间）的问题，而during 则是指动作所发生的时间，回答when（什么时候）的问题。请看下面的例句：
    The child woke three times during the night.  这个孩子夜里醒了三次。
    He stayed in Beijing for two years.  他在北京住了两年了。
