Unit 6  I like music that I can dance to.
 
I. Teaching aims and teaching demands:
(1) Knowledge Objects: In this unit , students should learn to express preferences using the target language with the relative clause.
(2) Ability Objects: To train students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills with relative clause.
(3) Moral Objects: Music is a kind of language that can be understood by the people all over the world.
II. Teaching key and difficult points:  
A.     Vocabulary 
Lyric, gentle, remind of, exhibition, prefer, photographer, energy, taste, be bad for, stay away from, 
B. Target language
What kind of music do you like?
I like music that I can sing along with. What about you?
I prefer music that has great lyrics.
C.   Structures
Relative clauses with that and who.
III. Teaching methods: Audio-lingual methods and communicative approaches.
IV. Learning strategies: Reflecting and transforming information
V. Teaching aids: a tape recorder and CAI
VI. This unit is divided into seven periods.
The First Period
I. Teaching aims and demands:
1.Knowledge Objects

What kind of music do you like?
I like music that I can sing along with. What about you?
I prefer music that has great lyrics.
2.Ability Objects
(1).Train students’ listening skills.
(2).Train students to express preferences. 
3. Moral Objects
Let’s enjoy music. It always brings us happiness.

V. Teaching procedure
Activity 1. Revision
1.Dictation. Words in Unit1-5.
2.Ask and answer: What kind of music do you like best?
pop music, classical music, jazz music, country music. 
Activity 2.Vocabulary
Task 1. Introduces the new words to the students with sentences.
Say the words and have the students repeat over again until they are pronounced fluently and accurately.

Present the relative clauses:
Write: …that are red . on the blackboard. Point to it and say a sentence with it. 
e.g.:  I like flowers that are red.    I like gloves that are red.
      I like shoes that are red.     I like cars that are red.
…. that is big                  I like the apple that is big.
I like music that makes me relaxed.
            
I like music         that I can sing along with.
that has great lyrics.
                   that I can dance to.
